Statkraft opened its renovated and expanded 350-MW Nedre Rossaga hydropower station on Oct. 18.
Nedre Rossaga became operational in the 1950s and is located in Nordland, Hemnes municipality, Norway. Refurbishment and expansion began in spring 2012. Total capacity increased to 350 MW from 250 MW and annual generation increased 200 GWh to 2.15 TWh.
Three existing units in the old power station were rehabilitated and three were decommissioned. A new power station was built to contain one 225-MW unit.
The project cost about NOK2 billion (US$245.5 million).
