Energy storage provider Sunverge yesterday said that Arizona Public Service (APS) will launch a new study before the end of the year to examine the effectiveness of networked distributed energy resources (DER).
According to Sunverge, APS will deploy Sunverge One energy storage units and home energy management systems to achieve “reliable load shapes” and drive customer savings. The company said that its platform can “predict load and solar generation.”
For the study, the platform will coordinate between energy storage systems and smart home devices. Sunverge said the utility’s goal is to optimize networked DERs in order to lower electricity demand, coordinate savings for time-of-use rates and provide grid services.
APS serves more than 1 million customers throughout northern and central Arizona.
