In Brazil, Platts reports that UNICA data shows hydrous ethanol production during the second half of October rose more than 7% on the year to 955 million liters but fell nearly as much as from the first half of the month as the crush begins to wind down in the face of lower cane yields. Total hydrous ethanol production for the season through October was more than 45% higher on the year at 18.86 billion liters. With drivers preferring to fill up with hydrous ethanol in their flex-fuel vehicles, demand for anhydrous has fallen and so has production, with just 405 million liters produced during the second half of October, more than 47% lower on the year.
